NEW! Escape & Evasion Course

NEW! Escape & Evasion Course

This six-class course teaches participants simple and effective self defense skills using principles from the martial art of Aikido.  Next course November 2024. Contact us for more information.

Course objectives: The primary objective is to teach people the skills to prevent them from becoming victims of physical abuse, and provide them with techniques to evade harm.  The techniques and skills we teach also can improve balance and coordination, and can increase your self-confidence. Check out the short infomercial for this course at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcoIHXvjRTk

Teaching method:  We provide a safe and supportive environment for learning. The teaching method is to carefully demonstrate a technique followed by students practicing the demonstrated technique as partners. Refinements and corrections are provided as the students practice.  Training then advances to applying techniques under various attack scenarios and at various tempos.

Target audience: Any individual at least 16 years old.  Couples/families are welcome to attend but note that participants will train with all other participants.  Class size is limited to 8 participants.

Physical requirements:   Individuals must be able to provide a physical response under adverse circumstances (i.e., a simulated hostile situation).  Physical exertion of short duration ranges from low to high, with slow to moderately paced repetition.   Individuals must be able to get to the ground and get back up without assistance.  Circular motions are emphasized, which may be challenging for individuals with vertigo.
